Synaptic Laboratories CTO Benjamin Gittins is to speak at the sixth Annual Cyber Security and Information Intelligence Research Workshop [CSIIRW] which will be held at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on April 21 - 23, 2010. (ORNL is a world leading USA Federal science and technology laboratory. It has an annual budget of USD $1.05 billion with 1500 scientists and engineers, specialising in a wide range of domains from the world's largest super computers to national and global security).

The peer-reviewed proceedings will be published by the Association of Computing Machinery.

Benjamin will present the paper: "Overview of SLL's proposal in response to NIST's call for new global identity management / cryptographic key management designs without Public Keys". This proposal employs a trust model based on static assertions and behavioural security.

Benjamin also collaborated with researchers from Sonalysts Inc. and the Faculty of Computer Science, Dalhousie University in co-authoring a SECOND paper that has been accepted for presentation at CSIIRW entitled: "The Need to Consider Both Object Identity and Behavior in Establishing the Trustworthiness of Network Devices within a Smart Grid". This presentation illustrates the universal applicability of the Synaptic Labs' IdM/CKM in the context of a unique and significant proposal of creating a trusted network from untrusted components, using Smart Electricity Grids as an example.
